Friends on the 4th 5K
|11th Annual "Friends on the Fourth" 5k!
Despite a June full of rain, 2013's July 4th brought us clear skies and plenty of sun to balance the humid air. This year's race attracted 662 registrations...another great turnout for this fun-filled event! A HUGE thank you to all of the runners and walkers, the 40+ volunteers, the business sponsors, the Winthrop American Legion for providing the location for our "base camp" and our fearless volunteer Race Director, Bob Moore! One and all have contributed to make the "Friends on the Fourth" 5K the biggest (and most fun!) race in central Maine!
This year's overall winner is Chase Brown of West Boothbay Harbor. A student at Colby, Chase's time was 16:20. The First Place Female title went to Erzie Nagy of Albion. Heading off to Middlebury College in the fall, Erzie's time for this race was 18:28.1
With most of the course set along the beautiful eastern shore of Maranacook Lake, the race attracts both old and new friends each year; quickly becoming one of Central Maine's mos popular races!
